Obituary

William T. Moore, MD died Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Hospice of Southern Kentucky.

Dr. Moore was a son of the late Thomas S. Moore and Ruby Gordon Westerfield Moore. He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Dean Moore Wilson of Louisville; one grandchild, Blake Anthony Moore; his grandmother Mary F. Tichinor of Hartford, KY and his grandfather, Will Moore of McHenry, KY.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mrs. Louise Bartlett Moore; three children, William A. Moore (Beverly) of Louisville, Anne Moore Erwin (Tracy) of Cincinnati and Brian A. Moore (Kristin) of New Orleans; five grandchildren, Eric Thomas Moore (Crystin) of Lexington, James Tyler Erwin (Megan) of Cincinnati, Taylor Anne Erwin of Cincinnati and twins, Liam and Finnegan Moore of New Orleans.

Dr. Moore is a graduate of the University of Louisville and the University of Louisville School of Medicine, from which he received the Parrish B. Cleveland Award upon graduating. He is a four-year veteran of the U. S. Navy. He received his specialty training in Otolaryngology at the University of Mississippi. He is a Diplomat of the American Board of Otolaryngology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgery and an Associate Member of the American College of Allergy. He was appointed as a Clinical Instructor of Otolaryngology at Vanderbilt University and he was an instructor in Speech Anatomy at Western Kentucky University. He is past president of the Kentucky Ear, Nose and Throat Society. He is a long-time member of the American Medical Association, the Kentucky Medical Association, and the Warren County Medical Association. He served in various capacities at both Greenview Hospital and The Medical Center. He served for many years on the Kentucky State Peer Review Committee, and he was a 28 year Examiner for the Kentucky Children with Special Needs.
He is a long time Rotarian. He served for 25 years on a local bank board and was a member of the Bowling Green-Warren County Chamber of Commerce. He has authored and presented several scientific papers, and he has written and published many novels and poems.
Dr. Moore served his patients of Bowling Green and Warren County faithfully for over 45 years.

Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 am, Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial in St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Tuesday at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home and additional visitation from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Prayer Service will be at 7:00 PM Tuesday at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home.
