Obituary

Wenonah Manning, 89, of Bowling Green, passed away Friday, March 22, 2019 at Hospice of Southern Kentucky. The Fordsville, KY native was the daughter of the late Harland and Ruby Miller White. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, W. Paul Manning; one brother, Harland White Jr. (Addie Sue White); one brother-in-law, Bill Dempsey.

Wenonah received a bachelor's degree from Western Kentucky University and a master's degree from Indiana University in music education. She retired from Cumberland Trace Elementary School where she taught Fourth grade for twenty-one years.  She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Bowling Green serving in the Faith Sunday School Class, Choir, and as an organist for First Baptist Church and Lyndon Baptist Church of Louisville, KY. She enjoyed playing Bridge and Scrabble with her family and friends.

She is survived by two sons, Mike Manning (Teena) and Steve Manning (Teryl) all of Bowling Green; one daughter, Barbie Thompson (Charlie) of Brentwood, TN; two sisters, Gwen Dempsey and Mary Alice Smith (Gary); six grandchildren, Elizabeth Yancey (Scott), Jonathan Thompson, Mitch Manning, Taylor Manning, Morgan Manning and Katie Manning; five great grandchildren, Nonie, Wylie, Moses, Wesly and Manning Yancey.

Memorial services are scheduled for 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 13 at First Baptist Church with private family burial at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled from 11:00 am until service time at First Baptist Church. Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Hospice of Southern Kentucky or First Baptist Church.
