Walter Sidney Richards, Jr., passed away peacefully at The Medical Center of Bowling Green at the age of 84, Sunday Sept 17, 2017. He was the son of the late Walter Sidney Richards, Sr. and Aletha {Pearl) Richards.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Bernice Richards. Walter was a member of Burton Memorial Baptist Church. He was retired from the Western Kentucky University Athletics Department and also a retired Volkswagen Mechanic. He was a devoted Christian that spent many years singing in gospel quartets including the Challengers.

He is survived in death by two daughters, Debbie Carter of Bowling Green and her husband, Harvey Carter, Tonja Lawson of Russellville and her husband, Kendall Lawson; four grandchildren, SherryRobinson of Bowling Green and her husband Luke Robinson, Josh Lawson, Sidney Lawson, Courtney Lawson and a great granddaughter, Aaleyah Lawson of Russellville; her sister Marilyn Polston of Bowling Green and her husband, Jerry and a brother, Joe Richards of Bowling Green and his wife, Joann Richards.

Visitation will be on Tuesday from 1:00 - 8:00 pm at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am Wednesday at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home with burial in Bowling Green Gardens.
