W. Melvin Oliver, 90, of Bowling Green passed away at 5:51 am, Friday, October 24, 2025 at his daughter's home in Bowling Green. The Allen County native was born December 29, 1934, a son of the late William Norris Oliver and Reba Jewell Williams Oliver. He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Juanita Goodrum Oliver; two brothers, William A. Oliver and Archie Oliver; and two sisters, Berna Dean Johnson and Olene Satterfield.
He was a member of Cave Mill Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for many years. He was a retired manager/part owner of George McGinley Supply Company and upon retirement worked for Bowling Green City Schools and drove a bus for the Kentucky School for the Deaf. Melvin was past president of the Senior Little League and coached Little League baseball and Farm League baseball. He was a volunteer for HOTEL, INC for over 15 years. He was most of all a devoted husband and loving father.
He is survived by four sons, Donnie (Debbie) Oliver of Bowling Green, Ronnie Oliver of Maryville, TN, Jerry (Gwen) Oliver of Scottsville and William Joseph Oliver of Bowling Green; one daughter, Melodi (Jim) Williams of Bowling Green. Melvin is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Rachel (Eric) Gant, Sarah (Melvin) Lucas, Jacob (Kellie) Oliver, Krystle (Brian) Oliver, Stephanie (Aaron) Greenwell, Timothy Oliver, David (Rachel) Oliver, Rose Oliver, Jordon (Kevin) Kline and Luke Williams; 12 great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; one brother, Gerral Oliver; one sister, Doris (John) Bottorff; one brother-in-law, Larry Satterfield; and one sister-in-law, Jannetta Oliver.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 12:00 pm, Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Friday, October 31, 2025 and again from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm on Saturday at Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
