Steve Bailey, 63, of Bowling Green, Kentucky, passed quietly into the loving arms of Jesus sometime during the week of May 11, 2026. He was discovered by the owner of the home where he had been house-sitting. The coroner indicated that the cause of death was natural causes.

The shocking news of Steve's passing quickly rippled through his family and many friends. Steve attended WKU before pursuing a career in sales. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting. He took great joy in hunting with his nephews, Adam and Joel, and in helping young people develop a love for Jesus while enjoying God's great outdoors.

Steve is survived by his mother, Dorthy Bailey Johnston; his stepfather, Karl Johnston; his sister, Dr. Beth Bailey Shelton; his nephews, Captain Adam Shelton, USAF (Andra) and Joel Shelton (Peyton); his great-niece, Cecily; his great-nephew, August; his niece, Rachel Shelton of Louisville, Kentucky; his beloved lab, Captain; as well as many extended family members and a host of cherished friends.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Mark Bailey, and his father, Dr. Don Bailey.

Steve was a devoted follower of Jesus and a longtime member of First Baptist Church. In recent years, he worshipped with the congregation of Hillvue Heights. A spiritual renewal in his life led him to a compassionate online ministry through which he regularly shared devotions offering inspiration and encouragement to others.

Visitation and a celebration of Steve's life will be held at First Baptist Church on Tuesday, May 19, from 11:00 a.m. until the memorial service at 2:00 p.m.

In memory of Steve, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church or Hillvue Heights.
