Obituary

Scott Allen Jones, age 62, passed away on January 31, 2026. He was born on February 15, 1963. Scott spent his early years in Richardsville, where he enjoyed his close-knit community while riding bikes and hanging out with friends. As a young man, he was baptized at the Richardsville Church of Christ. Scott was a 1981 graduate of Warren East High School and attended Western Kentucky University. Over the years, he worked for Sun Products and Houchens Industries. With a generous spirit and a heart to help others, Scott loved his family and friends dearly.

He was the beloved son of Alice and John Perkins and Glenda and Bruce Jones; a devoted brother to Jamie (Nick) Spugnardi and Tracy (Cale) Tharp. Scott is also survived by several special aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Bruce Jones; his maternal grandparents, Raymond and Ina Mae Stringfield; and his paternal grandparents, Joab and Bertie Jones.

Scott cherished his role as an uncle. He is survived by his nieces and nephews: Chris (Mindy) Key; Allison (Daniel) Bemiss; Allie (Adam) Shewmaker; Chase Watson; Aletha (Aaron) Brackett; Dustin (Chelsea) Tharp; Calea (Preston) Howell; Brooke Tharp; and Ethan Tharp. He is also survived by his great-nieces and great-nephews: Caroline, Caleb, Elijah, Jonah, Janie, Mattie, Annie, Charlie, Alyssa, Harper, Hadley, Anslee, Addilynn, and Addie. He is also survived by his sweet girl and loyal companion, Tillie Mae, his Aussiedoodle.

Scott loved being around people. Many of his favorite days were spent with friends at Barren River Lake. He enjoyed listening to pop music and was always ready to jump in and teach the Electric Slide, making sure everyone was having a good time. He was a devoted NASCAR fan and loved the thrill of driving much too fast. Scott never passed up a good steak or a 64-ounce Coca-Cola fountain drink. He loved keeping up with breaking news and sharing it with the people he loved. Above all, Scott will be remembered for his big heart, fun spirit, and the genuine love he showed to those closest to him. His life left a lasting mark on all who knew him.
