Rosemary Hulshof Brown of Bowling Green, KY passed away at the age of 86 on Sunday, July 27, 2025. She was born August 23rd, 1938 to the late Henry and Emma Hulshof in Portageville, MO.

She celebrated 41 years of marriage with her loving husband David until his passing in 2013.

Rosemary spent her childhood in Portageville, MO, learning farming, homemaking, and music from her family. She was a graduate of Portageville High School where she was the Sweetheart of the Portageville High School band. She went on to study nursing at St. Joseph's Hospital, serving as the Vice President of the 1957 Nursing Class, and then became a Nurse Anesthetist at the Barnes Hospital School of Nursing. Rosemary served the Memphis community as a CRNA, working at hospitals and surgery centers for four decades––notably serving at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital when it opened its doors in 1962.

Rosemary married her devoted husband David Brown on May 6th, 1972, and they had three wonderful children: Maria, Becky, and Patrick. Rosemary's greatest joy came from raising her three children. She helped lead the PTA for Blessed Sacrament School and Memphis Catholic High School and never missed an opportunity to coordinate a school event or further her children's educations. She served the greater Memphis Catholic community as an organist and devoted parishioner for over 40 years.

Upon her retirement from nursing, Rosemary and David moved to Bowling Green, KY to begin their final chapters as full-time grandparents and parishioners of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Rosemary faithfully served the Bowling Green Catholic community, training liturgical ministers and offering her musical talents as needed. She was affectionately recognized as a Hometown Hero for her role in showing love and support to the Kentucky State Police at Post 3 in 2021.

Rosemary, Mom, Mammaw, Aunt Rosie, and neighbor to all––will be remembered for the fun she brought to every celebration, her staunch faith, and the love and generosity that she steadfastly shared.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, July 30 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, July 29 with a prayer service at 7:00 at the church. Additional visitation will be from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm on Wednesday, July 30

Rosemary is survived by her three children: Maria (John) Sullivan of Nashville, TN, Becky (David) Mooney of Kingsport, TN, and Patrick (Susan) Brown of Bowling Green, KY; five grandchildren: Ryan Brown, Ethan Brown, Meredith Mooney, Claire Mooney, and Connor Mooney; two brothers: Francis Hulshof and Joe Hulshof; one sister: Janie Duenne; and many more family, friends, and neighbors whom she loved.

Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband David, her parents Henry and Emma, her brothers Paul and Vincent, and her sister Mary Emma.

Rosemary's family would like to extend a special thanks to Rosemary's angels on earth, Mary Teahan, Dr. Mike Byrne, her Holy Spirit Family, Hospice of Southern Kentucky, and the caring staff at Bridgepointe. Your care and support for Rosemary and her family is much appreciated and will be a cherished memory in this chapter of our lives.
