Robert Long, 100, of Bowling Green, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025 at Christian Health Care. The Bowling Green native was a son of the late William Leonard Long and Elizabeth Stephenson Long. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Phalan Long to whom he was married to for 66 years; and ten brothers, Porter Eugene Long, Luther D. Long, William Everett Long, Elmer Lee Long, Leonard Kyle Long, Wiley Oral Long, Charles Willie Long, Artie Ernest Long, Chester Ray Long and Clarence Stokes Long.
Mr. Long was a graduate of Bowling Green Business University and worked as an account in private practice and at J.C. Holland before retiring. However, he continued accounting work until his mid-nineties. He loved his work and the relationships he formed with his clients. Robert was an active member and Elder of Bowling Green Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He served as treasurer of the Cumberland Presbytery for 30 years and as the secretary of the Bowling Green Noon Rotary Club for 35 years. Robert was an avid WKU Basketball fan and enjoyed gardening, working on his antique car, fishing, and family game nights. He treasured spending time with his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, November 20 at Bowling Green Cumberland Presbyterian Church with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, November 19 at Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home. Additional visitation will be from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Thursday, November 20 at the church.
He is survived by two daughters, Brenda Long Powell (David) and Tricia Long Harper (Doug); a son, Cliff Long (Marlene); four grandchildren, Robert Linsey Long, James Christopher Long (Leesha), Jason Motter Powell and Sarah Jane Malone (Lee); thirteen great-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
