Robert Norman Besaw, beloved father, devoted Papaw and Great-Papaw (GP), cherished brother, and loyal friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 12, 2025, at the age of 75, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Robert proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a Petty Officer Third Class (PO3) during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1972, where he became a skilled electrician. After his military service, he began his civilian career at International Harvester in Louisville, Kentucky, before continuing on to the General Motors Corvette Plant in Bowling Green. There, he spent nearly 30 years contributing to a brand he loved, retiring in 2012 with many friendships and memories.

Family was the heart of Robert's world. He was a proud father to his two sons and found immeasurable joy in the lives of his three granddaughters and his great-granddaughter. Some of his happiest moments were spent cheering on his favorite teams with his family and friends or attending racing events with his son, Travis.

Robert lived life fully and joyfully. He found peace on the golf course, often playing with coworkers and siblings. He cherished trips to the beach, where he could relax and listen to the waves. He loved playing guitar, listening to live music at concerts in the park, and sharing laughs over dinner and a jumbo margarita at his favorite Mexican restaurant.

Robert is survived by his sons, Quincy Besaw, of Lebanon TN and Travis Besaw (Molly), of Edgewood KY; his adored granddaughters, Heather, Trinity, and Paige; and his great-granddaughter, Susanne. He also leaves behind his siblings: Brenda King (Ron), of Louisville KY, Kenny Besaw, of Louisville KY, Karen Sweazy (Eric), of Bloomfield KY, and Kevin Besaw (Patty), of Louisville KY; along with many loving nieces, nephews, and friends who became like family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Pattie Besaw, and his sister, Linda Rose Besaw.

Robert will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy is one of love, laughter, hard work, and unwavering devotion to those he held dear. His memory will continue to live on through the many lives he touched and the family he so dearly cherished.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 4th, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a small memorial service at 2:00 PM at Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home, located at 901 Fairview Ave, Bowling Green, KY 42101. In honor of Robert, feel free to wear attire representing one of his favorite teams (University of Louisville, Nashville Predators, Tennessee Titans, Cincinnati Reds, WKU, or Tampa Bay Rays) or a color that represents one of those teams.
