Richard Harrison Cooksey, 71, of Bowling Green, KY passed away Sunday, May 26, 2024 at T.J.  Samson Community Hospital.

He was born on September 29, 1952 in Scottsville, KY to Kelly and Scottie Cooksey. Better known as Ricky in his hometown, he was known for his golfing talent. He graduated from Scottsville High School in 1970. While working at The Medical Center at Bowling Green, he met his wife, Betsy. They married in Portland, TN on June 20, 1981. Three years later they welcomed their daughter, Laura Beth, his pride and joy. He was always there to watch her cheer at games and competitions. He enjoyed playing and watching golf, listening to music, and watching UK basketball. He worked for over 25 years in medical supplies and distribution and most recently as a courier at ELPO Law. Almost eight years ago, he was given another title.  He loved being "Pa" to Audrey Kate and Lillian Grace.

He was the son of the late Kelly W. Cooksey and Scottie Coots Cooksey.

He is survived by his wife, Betsy Agee Cooksey; daughter, Laura Beth Menser (J.D.); and two granddaughters, Audrey Kate and Lillian Grace Menser.

A graveside service will be at 11:00 am, Friday, May 31, 2024 at Crescent Hill Cemetery in Scottsville, KY with Bro. J.D. Menser officiating. The family has requested expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to the American Heart Association or Lakeview Fellowship Church, 4550 Smallhouse Rd. Bowling Green, KY 42104
