Obituary

Rebecca F. Brooks, 82 of Bowling Green, died Monday, November 27, 2017 at her residence.

The Van Alystine, Texas native was a daughter of the late Martin McKinley Lewis and Lora Pauline McCluskey Lewis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Franklin Brooks and four brothers.
Mrs. Brooks was a retired registered nurse and held an associate degree from Western Kentucky University.

Married at an early age of 17, her husband, Jerry, was in the Navy. They graduated from high school together and moved to Norman, OK. The lived in Memphis, TN, Brunswick, GA and Pensacola, FL and Cave City, KY was home base. Around the age of 27, she went to LPN Training and then about 5 years later went to Western to get her Registered Nursing education. She worked as an R.N. until 1998. During this time she had two boys and two girls and was active in their education. She became a believer in Christ when she was 13 years old; this has made her life so blessed. Rebecca's loving service to the Lord was at Glendale Baptist Church until the death of her beloved husband, Jerry. At that time Mrs. Brooks became a member of Calvary Baptist Church where her youngest daughter, Wendi attends.

She is survived by her children, David Brooks (Shizuko) of Tokyo, Japan, Jerri Ann Collier (David) of Terre Haute, Indiana, Tim Brooks (Amanda) and Wendi Hulsey (Russell); one sister, Betty Sanders; ten grandchildren, Rebekah Collier, Stephen Collier, Philip Collier, Thomas Collier, Mikio Brooks, Tomi Brooks, Thomas Hulsey, Aubrey Hulsey, Heidi Brooks and McKinley Brooks; five great grandchildren, Wyatt Collier, Mason Collier, Madilyn Collier, Ava Brooks and Marie Brooks; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service for Mrs. Brooks will be on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, December 1, 2017 at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home. Graveside services will be a 3:00 PM at the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery in Glasgow, KY.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the BG/WC Humane Society or to the Mission Work at Calvary Baptist Church.
