Obituary

Norma Jean (Smith) Duff, 85 of Bowling Green passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2026. She was born on September 10, 1940, to the late William T. and Lois (Huffman) Smith. Norma Jean was united in marriage to the late Richard E. Duff, with whom she shared 68 years of devoted companionship. She is also preceded in death  by her son, James Richard "Jimmy" Duff.

Norma Jean attended North Warren High School and worked several places in her life; she was a homemaker, tobacco setter, a seamstress for the Derby Underwear (Fruit of the Loom), Kmart, Wal-Mart, and most recently she was a Foster Grandparent for Community Action of Southern Kentucky. Along with that she was also a professional gossiper, shopper (all her $$ went to Wal-Mart) and a professional patient at Greenview Hospital.  The worst day of her life was when the phone company took her party line away.

Rest in Peace Momma, You'll be missed!

She is survived by four children, Joanne Suiters (Dave) of Lafayette, IN, Tony Duff (Sarah) of Bowling Green, Martha Young (Fred) of Wolcott, IN, and Roger Duff of Bowling Green. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled for 12:00 pm, Wednesday,  February 4, 2026 at Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home.
