Myrtle Frances Henson, 89, of Bowling Green, Kentucky passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at her residence. She retired from Holley Carburetor where she was a 40-year employee. Myrtle was also a lifelong farmer where she raised cattle and grew tobacco. Myrtle had a great love for her many dogs through the years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Mrs. Henson was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Johnnie Talley Simpson; by her husband of 50 years, Lee Roy Henson; her daughter, Jennifer Dee Holbrook and her son, Ira Claude Henson; three grandchildren, Crystal Marie Henson, Jeff Anthony Henson, Brandon Thomas Dee Hulett; two sisters, Katherine Yeager- Meyers and Rebecca Simpson; and two brothers, Hubert Lee Simpson and Harold Dee Simpson.

Myrtle is survived by a daughter, Janet Lee Cox (Sherrill) and a son, Roy Glen Henson (Sheri). Also, Myrtle is survived by several grandchildren, Michelle Lee Cooper, Gary Howard Cox, Candace Renee Fisher, Alicia Nicole Duello, Andrew Scott Henson, Brenda Lee Cherry-Tapper, Brian Nicholas Henson, and Brooke Loraine Henson; many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews

Though all family members have played a role in Myrtle’s care, the family would like to acknowledge and say thank you to Brian and Gina Henson for their devoted care of her during her last years.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday August 18, 2026 at Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home with burial to follow in Bethel Methodist Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 17 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, August 18 from 9:00 a.m. till 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
