Maude "Penny" Poynter, 95, of Bowling Green passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Hospice House. The Barren County native was born on March 10, 1923 to the late Clooney B. and Nora Bell Payne. She was also preceded in death by her husband, George Wesley Poynter; a son-in-law, Joseph "Mac" Grimes; two sisters, Lou Edna Pulliam and Brookie Marteen Cox; and two brothers, James and Joe William Payne.

She was a retiree from Union Underwear. She was also a member of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Mrs. Poynter is survived by three daughters, Barbara Grimes of Clarkson, KY, Georgia Kaye Neal (Kevin) of Louisville, KY, and Guywanna Gaye Brown (Mike) of Franklin, KY; five grandchildren, Deborah L. Grimes Hutchinson of Owensboro, KY, Joe Brooklyn Grimes (Tennille) of Peachtree, WV, Victoria Elyce Smith (Mohamed) of Louisville, KY, and Michael Dylan and David M. Brown of Franklin, KY; four great-grandchildren, Joseph Hunter Grimes of Man, WV, Savannah K. Smith of Louisville, KY, Jordan T. Hutchinson (Beth) and Brennen C. Hutchinson of Owensboro, KY,; and two great-great-grandchildren, Maxton T. and Reisz C. Hutchinson of Owensboro, KY.

The funeral service is scheduled for 2 PM on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 and again on Wednesday from 1 PM until service time at Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home.
