Mary Elizabeth Gunsauley Cash, 103, of Bowling Green passed away Sunday, September 6, with her family at her side. The Prescott, AZ native was born on March 20, 1923 to the late Joe Silby and Mary Helen Brizendine Gunsauley.

Mary Elizabeth was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Julian Duncan Cash; her daughter, Judy Carol Cash; her sister, Jo Silby Pardue; and her brothers, Clyde Hall and Julian Read Hayden.

She is survived by her daughters, Helen Richardson (Jeff), Sue Steele, and Kim Wakabayashi; her sons, Jerry Cash and Mark Cash (Cinda); granddaughters, Paige Richardson and Kristen Nichols (Nate) and her grandson, Reuben Cash (Nadiia); great grandchildren, Aiden and Samuel; sister-in-law, Polly Hayden and many nieces and nephews.

She graduated from Louisville Girls High School. During WWII, she worked at Ken-Rad, a radio tube manufacturing company in Owensboro, Kentucky. Mary Elizabeth cherished her role as a loving wife and devoted mother. Her life was deeply rooted in her faith, her family and her community. She most recently attended West End Church of Christ and loved worshiping there and sharing the gospel with others. Above all, Mary Elizabeth loved sharing in her family’s activities and creating lasting memories with her dear friends.

Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, September 11 at Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home with private burial to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 11 at the funeral home.
