Marilyn Fay Tomes, 89 of Bowling Green, died Friday, November 24, 2017 at her residence.
The Bowling Green native was born December 30, 1927 to the late Eldon and Oma Carter Douglas. She is preceded in death by three sisters, Rosetta Douglas, Doe Payne and Revia Douglas; four brothers, Caris Douglas, James Douglas, Billy Joe Douglas and Maxie Douglas; son-in-law, J. R. Wilkins.
Mrs. Tomes attended Western Kentucky University with emphasis on accounting. She was a former treasurer with First Federal Savings and Loan and was a member of Lehman Avenue Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband of 69 years, James B. Tomes; one son, James Tomes, III (Norma); two daughters, Dr. Jay Sherry Davis, MD (Ron) and Deborah Wilkins all of Bowling Green; seven grandchildren, Wren Mills, Ryan Davis, Jordan Davis, Troy Davis, Elizabeth Alexander, James Butler Tomes, IV and Jessica Mercer; three great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 1:00 pm Monday, November 27, 2017 at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sunday, November 26, 2017 at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home and 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Monday at the funeral home.
