Madell (Ground) Holton, 85, of Bowling Green, Kentucky passed away peacefully Sunday, May 26th, 2019, at Hospice Home Patient Care Center on Scottsville Road. She was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister and Christian to all of her family, co-workers and friends. She was a member of Lost River (formerly 12th Street) church of Christ for most of her life.
She was a graduate of North Warren High School in Warren County. She was also a member of the Daughters of The American Revolution. Madell was an active supporter in local politics in Bowling Green and Warren County. In her early life Madell worked at Holley Carburetor and Cutler Hammer. She then transitioned during most of her adult life working in the medical community. For over 20 years Madell worked with Dr. Nick Kafoglis, OBGYN as his assistant. Madell had a servant-heart and was always doing whatever she could to assist family members, members of her church or others in the community who she knew was in need.
She was a daughter of the late Pleas Ground and Vadie Howell Ground, born November 6, 1933. She was one of 10 children raised in the Three Forks-Smiths Grove, Kentucky community. Madell was preceded in death by her husband, James William Holton; seven brothers, Robert, Ruble, Aubrey, Clifton, Maxie, William & Elvis and a sister Ruby Jones.
Survivors include her children Monica Kercheval and her husband, Ron Kercheval; Jim Holton and his wife, Jenny; grandson Nathan Holton and his wife Rachel Holton and their son Bear William Holton all of Bowling Green and Erin Holton, her granddaughter of Cumming, Georgia. She is also survived by her sister, Frankie Ground Stone and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services to honor Madell's life will be held at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home at 901 Fairview Avenue in Bowling Green, Ky. Visitation will begin on Thursday, May 30th from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. prior to the funeral service which will begin that same day at 3:00 p.m. All times are central standard time. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Hospice of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green, Ky.
