Obituary

Mabel, "Mame" Stone, 104, of Bowling Green, KY passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 20 at Hospice of Southern Kentucky. Mame was born in Madison, Indiana, the second daughter of Harry and Myrtle Ream Coleman. She graduated from Vernon High School and the Ball State School of Nursing. She was active in nursing through the years and mainly in surgery, emergency room and intensive care. She was the first president of Grant County Nurse's Association.

She was a lifetime member of the Presbyterian Church and served as a deacon, in the adult choir and taught various Sunday school classes as well as volunteer work.

Mame was preceded in death by her parents. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, John B. Stone, who she married, August 13, 1941. They enjoyed seventy-eight wonderful years together. One son, J. Kenton Stone; three sisters, Phyllis Roseberry of Greensburg, IN, Jean Mullikin of Anderson, IN, Margaret "Peg" Barefoot of Muncie, IN; one brother, Charles L. Coleman of Alexandria IN.

She is survived by, one son, Craig C. Stone (Bette), Russelville, KY; three grandsons; Nathan Stone (Shannon) of Nashville, TN, Justin Stone (Eveling) of Knoxville, TN, and J. Kenton Stone, II of Owensboro, KY; one granddaughter, Mckenzie Stone Varns (Andrew) of Sheffield, England; three great grandsons, Matthew and Jaden Stone and Jimmie Varns; two great granddaughters, Rosie Varns and Jaklyn Stone; plus several special nieces and nephews.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Presbyterian Church of Bowling Green, KY.

Memorial Service will be scheduled at Village Manor beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 24. A burial will be held at a later date at the Grant Memorial Cemetery in Marion, IN.
