Dr. Lowell William Shank, 84, of Bowling Green passed away on October 31st, 2023 at Hospice House of Southern Kentucky.

Dr. Shank was born in Hagerstown, MD to the late Paul W. Shank and Edna Martin Shank. He was a graduate of Ohio State University where he received his PHD. He was a Chemistry Professor at Western Kentucky University and a member of Christ Methodist Church in Bowling Green. Dr. Shank was also a member of Bowling Green's Barbershop Harmony Chorus, The Caveman Chorus, as a founding member since 1971, and sang in the church choir. He was a member of various chemistry related groups, was Chairman of the Kentucky Science Olympiad, Director of the National Science Olympiad and was Chair of the WKU Chemistry Department.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Sharyn Kanagy; and his brother, Phil Shank.

Dr. Shank is survived by his wife, Darlene P. White Shank; daughters, Jennifer Buckingham (Eric) and Kim Jay (Bruce); brother, Stephen Shank; sisters, Dottie Shank Kauffmann and Carol Wolfer;

A memorial service for Dr. Shank will be conducted on Saturday, November 4th, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Christ Methodist Church.

Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to Bowling Green's Barber Shop Harmony Chorus, The Caveman Chorus.
