Kay Melton, 71, of Springfield, TN passed away Thursday, September 24, 2026 at her brother’s home in Springfield, TN.

She was a daughter of the late James Edward and Nona B. Morris Spivey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Melton and sister, May Murphy. Mrs. Melton was a homemaker and member of New Hope Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son, James Allen Melton (Amber); two brothers, Dale Spivey (Clara), and Donald Spivey (Beverly); three sisters, Nona Faye Moody (James), Nellie Gainous (Charles), and Linda Carter (Carl); six grandchildren, Tarrah Melton, Zada Melton, Tommy Melton, Clayton Sullivan (Brittany), Isabella Bates, and Gabriella McReynolds; two great grandchildren, Josie Sullivan and Phillip Sullivan; several nieces and nephews; several great nieces and great nephews.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 pm Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Clear Fork Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday, September 28, 2026 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm and again on Tuesday from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the funeral home.
