Karl N Crandall, 75 passed away peacefully Monday, April 2nd, 2018 surrounded by loved ones. He is survived by Judy Martin of Bowling Green, his partner of 28 years.  His daughter, Anna Crandall Plyler and her husband Dwight Plyler of Atlanta; two grandchildren, Caroline Bradbury Plyler, Elizabeth Crandall Plyler and several nieces and cousins.
Karl was born in Akron, Ohio on November 13th, 1942 and was the son of the late Norman and Lola Crandall and was preceded in death by his two sisters, Louise Crandall Franklin and Evelyn Crandall. Karl grew up in Millersburg Ohio where he excelled in sports and graduated with honors from Millersburg High School. He was one of the few to come out of Millersburg who was offered college scholarships in all four sports he played including Basketball, Baseball, Football, and Track. In 1986, Karl was inducted into the Holmes County Hall of Fame for his accomplishments.

In 1964 Karl accepted an offer to play football at the University of Kentucky on a full academic/athletic scholarship. He was recruited by the legendary Blanton Collier in 1960. He elected to play football for only one year and gave up his scholarship under the controversial coach Charlie Bradshaw following the scandal that went on to leave only the "Thin Thirty". Karl then received a full scholarship to play baseball at the University of Kentucky until 1964 where he was considered a fine player. He was also a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and worked as a house boy for the Delta Delta Delta sorority where he met his first wife Sue Bradbury Settle, Anna's mom whom he was married to for 25 years.

In 1964, Karl attended The University of Kentucky College of Law where he was selected as a member of the Moot Court Board. Following graduation in 1967, Karl served as a law clerk for the Kentucky Court of Appeals before being drafted into the US Army and appointed as a legal clerk for the office of claims at Fort Knox Kentucky.

In 1970, he joined Bell, Orr, Ayers and Moore legal firm, where he worked for many years  before breaking off and starting his own firm with Joe Bill Campbell forming Campbell & Crandall, later to be Campbell, Crandall and Kerrick which he was apart of until the 1980's. He then decided to go into private practice for many years and later went back into Kerricks firm in his last days of practicing law before retiring his law practice in the early 2000's.

During his life, he was a member of the Jaycee's, Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce, Kentucky Bar Association. In addition he was an avid sports fan and loved going to watch the Bowling Green Purples, Kentucky Wildcats and Tennessee Titans on any given weekend. His favorite pastimes were being with family,  friends, golfing, attending horse races and spending winter months in south Florida.

He always had a great sense of humor, worked hard, was extremely humble, ,and loved and cherished his closest friends.

He leaves many lifelong friends behind in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

The Funeral Service will be held this Thursday, April 5th at Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home.

Visiting Hours will be on Thursday, April 5th at the Funeral Home from 3pm-6pm with a Celebration of Life following visitation.

There will be a private burial for family only Friday at 10am.
