Julia Moore Buchanan, 82, of Bowling Green, passed away peacefully at The Medical Center on Friday, January 23. The Bowling Green native was a daughter of the late Charles Hugh Moore and Henrietta Whitaker Moore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Minor Moore and a brother-in-law, William Adams.
She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church. Judy received her bachelor's degree from the University of Kentucky in social work. Judy was the Treatment Director at Park Place Recovery Center.
Mrs. Buchanan is survived by her husband, Dr. David Allan Buchanan, Sr.; one daughter, Sale Buchanan Hightower (Crawford); two sons, David Allan Buchanan, Jr. (Amy) and Dr. John Whitaker Buchanan (Dee Dee); seven grandchildren, Hampton Buchanan Williams (Clay), Caroline Buchanan Bahn (Lucas), Beau Miller Buchanan, Mary Whitaker Buchanan, Zachary Allan Buchanan, Julia McGinley Hightower and Reece Buchanan Hightower; great-grandchildren, Embry Anne Williams and Katherine Deming Williams; two sisters, Ann Moore Pepper (Henry) and Penny Moore Adams; sister-in-law, Shelby Greer Moore; brother-in-law, Gary Buchanan (Regina) and several nieces and nephews.
A private family service will be held with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, family has requested donations be made to Christ Episcopal Church 1215 State Street, Bowling Green, KY 42101 or 13th Street Clubhouse, 1013 E 13th Avenue, Bowling Green, KY 42101.
Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home has been entrusted with funeral arrangements.
