Judith Ann Lambert Dilamarter - December 31, 1935 - July 15, 2024

Judy was born in Ramsey, IL to Carrie Lucille Alexander Lambert and Walter Lawrence Lambert. She was their second child, and their first daughter. As the child of a railroad worker, she moved several times between Mendota, IL and Dixon, IL. At one point, she and her family lived in a boxcar, made over and done up by the railroad. She didn't like it at the time, but later found out there was a children's book called The Boxcar Children and felt a sense of pride about it.

She graduated from Mendota High School in 1953 and matriculated at Aurora College (now University) in Aurora, IL, the first of her family to go to college. It was while she was in college that she fell in love with both Ron Dilamarter and nursing. She married Ron in 1957, and then graduated from Aurora College in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science with a Diploma in Nursing. She then worked as a nurse in hospitals in Aurora, DeKalb, IL, and Iowa City, IA while Ron was pursuing a PhD there.

The family, now including their children Diane and Dan, moved to Bowling Green, KY in the summer of 1968, when Ron began teaching at Western Kentucky University. Judy spent a couple of years as a stay-at-home mother, when their pediatrician, Dr. Jeffries Blackerby, needed a temporary nurse, an arrangement that became a 45-year career as a nurse with Pediatric Associates in Bowling Green.

Her long involvement with Broadway United Methodist Church began in 1968, when the family moved nearby. In her time there she held nearly every non-clergy office at some point, sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, and led a small group for many years. Broadway became her second family, and she loved the people there dearly.

She loved to sew and create beautiful things. She made Ron's suits and ties for teaching, Dan's school and play clothes, and Diane's dresses. Her card and crafting club became a particular joy in later years, and many collected her beautiful handmade cards.

She leaves behind her children Diane and Dan, their spouses Jim and Cindy, her granddaughters Astrid (Chris), Mary Kate, Lily, and Callie.

Her keen intellect, compassion and wisdom, and especially her merry wit, will be missed by everyone, but also her theological insight, her questioning mind, and above all, her deep and abiding love for God and all her family.

Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 21, 2024 at Broadway United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 1:30 until service time. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery on Monday, July 22, 2024 at 11 a.m.
