Joyce Livingston, 88, of Bowling Green died peacefully in her sleep Sunday morning, July 3, 2016 at Greenwood Nursing Home.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, John Calvin West and Viola Worley West and her brother, Eugene Marvin West. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Dr. David Livingston; 2 children, Pamela Thurman (Michael) and Tim Livingston (Susan); 3 granddaughters, Hannah Vanderpool (Jonathan), Rachel Rigdon (Brendan), and Miriam Bott (Nathan); and 9 great-grandchildren.
Joyce was a retired music teacher of 30 years in public school music education and taught choir and band. She was a piano major at UK where she met her husband, David, and together they were the first choir and band teachers at Franklin County High School in Frankfort, KY. She taught instrumental music in Bowling Green City Schools from 1967 – 1981. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church Sanctuary Choir for many years, and enjoyed all aspects of music.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
