Johnny W. Douglas, 74, died Tuesday, February 10, 2026  in Bowling Green. Johnny was the son of the late John Douglas and Bernice King Douglas and was also preceded in death by grandparents, Davis and Annie King, Velie and Sallie Douglas; uncles, Neal Douglas, Harold Douglas, Albert King and Earl King; aunts, Pauline Hays, Christine Douglas, Elizabeth Madison, Myrl Frye and Emily Kitchens Devore; nephew, Butch Bundy

Johnny was a 1969 graduate of Warren Central High School, graduate of Western Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Science, Elementary Education, 1972; Master of Arts, Elementary Education, 1978; Education Specialist, School Administration, 1988. He taught in Warren County, Butler County and Bowling Green Independent Schools and retired from L.C. Curry Elementary, 2000. Johnny was a member of the Third District Education Association, Kentucky Education Association, National Education Association, and Kentucky Education Association-Retired. He was elected President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Third District Education Association, 1976-1977 and 1995-1996. He served as a member of the KEA Board of Directors and also the Kentucky Education Association-Retired Board of Directors and was President of Third District Education Association -Retired. Johnny was a member of the Phi Delta Kappa Education Fraternity and a Kentucky Colonel.

Johnny had a passion for music, especially church music. He served as pianist or organist at Ray's Branch, West Side and Christ United Methodist Churches and Living Hope Baptist Church. He was also the Director of Music at Christ United Methodist Church for 17 and ½ years and was instrumental in gathering five choirs together for the presentation of EXPERIENCING GOD.

He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity, serving as High PI, the chapter advisor, and also served as President, Secretary and Treasurer of the Lambda Lambda Zeta Housing Corporation and as a Fraternal Steward. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Hope Harbor, Inc., operated J and J Sheet Metal Shop with his parents, and owned and operated BROADWAY FLORIST OF BOWLING GREEN, INC.  Johnny was named Outstanding Young Man of America, 1982, Outstanding College Student of America, 1989, Graduate of Commonwealth Institute for Teachers, 1992, Outstanding Young Educator of America for Bowling Green and Warren County, Elementary Division,1992.

He is survived by one nephew, Kevin Bundy; four cousins, Rick Douglas (Carol), Sally Appleby (David), Tommy Kitchens (Peggy) and Georgia May Martin; adopted son, Ryan Marcum and special friend, David Roberts.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 17 at Faith Methodist Church with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Faith Methodist Church. Johnson Vaughn Phelps has been entrusted with the arrangements.
