Obituary

John Curtis "J.C." Carter, 91, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at the Radcliff Veterans Center in Radcliff, KY. The Bowling Green native was the son of the late Mary Allen Carter and Pete Carter. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Imogene Miller Carter.

J.C. attended St. Joe Catholic school and graduated from Bowling Green High school.  Mr. Carter honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Following his military service, he worked for the U.S. Post Office. He was a member of Glendale Baptist Church and attended First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his son, Steve Carter (Sherry); daughter, Sherri Carter Sleight (Craig); two sisters, Shirley Sublett and Joyce Stringfield; four grandchildren, Melissa Carter Cook (Cameron), Jordan Carter (Natalie), Carter Sleight, and Grant Sleight; four great-grandchildren, Connor, Emma, Hadley, and Hazel; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are scheduled at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, January 27, 2025 at Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the WKU College Heights Foundation Lee Robertson Scholarship Fund.
