John E. "Jack" McCloughan of Scottsville, age 82, passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Hospice House in Bowling Green. Formerly of Lambertville, New Jersey, John moved to Kentucky after his retirement from the Hunterdon Medical Center in New Jersey. He was a plumber by trade.
John served in the United States Marine Corp from 1956-1959. He was proud of his service and loved his country. He was a man of honor who led by example. He was always willing to help others and always did the job right. He enjoyed hunting with his sons, spending time with his family, traveling and NASCAR. He belonged to many community clubs and activities while in New Jersey. John was a member of Greenhill United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lucy McCloughan, a brother Frederick and his sister Mildred Baker.
Survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda Larason McCloughan, two daughters, Linda Shelton (James) of Bowling Green, and Gayle Schaible (Richard) of Lambertville, New Jersey, two sons, Bob McCloughan (Michele) of Bowling Green and Kevin McCloughan (MaryAnn) of Lambertville, eight granddaughters, Jessica Fennimore (Frederick), Karlie Schaible, Brooke and Nikki Shelton (fiancé Mike Holtgraver), Ashley, Kendra, Madison and Brenna McCloughan, three great- grandchildren, Preston, Weston and Sydney.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Hospice House of Southern Kentucky, 5872 Scottsville Road, Bowling Green, KY.
Interment will be in the Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, Pennsylvania at a later date.
Funeral Service will be at Greenhill United Methodist Church 4802 Old Greenhill Road, Bowling Green, KY. on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at 7:00 PM. The family will receive visitors before the service beginning 4:00 PM until the service.
