Jerry Glen Finch, 77, of Bowling Green, passed away peacefully from a brief illness on Sunday, February 1, 2026 at the Medical Center surrounded by family. He entered his Heavenly home standing and walking tall, which is something he had not been able to do for many years. He will be deeply missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Ollie Finch, and a very special niece, Teresa Finch.

Left to cherish his memories is his wife and high school sweetheart, Bertie Finch with whom he was married for 59 years. He leaves behind a son, William Finch (Sandra), and a daughter, Amy Shelton (Clay). He leaves behind grandchildren, Nick Shelton (McKay), Rachel Reynolds (Ryan), Nathan Shelton (Alexandra), John Finch (Krista), Noah Shelton (Eryn), Natalie Gibbs (Andrew), and great grandchildren, Lillie Reynolds, Sutton Shelton, Sadie Reynolds, Penelope Shelton, and baby Shelton which is due in August and a brother, Richard Finch (Linda).

Jerry spent his early life working at Webb Chevrolet and repaired many cars along his life. He began working for FMC when they opened and stayed until they closed. But he still stayed close to cranes, working for Western Crane and Continental Machinery Movers. He later transitioned to driving a truck for Sun Products. He has gained many life-long friends that he has gathered over his working years. His most prized adventures were him creating joy for children as he played Santa Claus until he was no longer able.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 am Friday, February 6, 2026 at Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, February 5, 2026 and again from 9:00 am to 10:00 am Friday at Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home.
