Jean Forsee Clanton, 69, of Russellville, died on September 13, 2026, following a short illness and a long struggle with Alzheimer’s. She was born on March 15, 1957, to the late Earl Drummond Forsee, Jr. and Reba Jean Brown Forsee. She is also preceded in death by her step-son, Jason "Scott" Clanton; two brothers, Bob and John Forsee; a sister-in-law, Kathy Forsee; a step-grandson, Sawyer Clanton; and mother figure, June Cottrell.

Jean grew up the youngest of four children, and the only daughter. One of her special memories from her youth was shooting hoops with her brother, Joe. Her older brothers had a band together named 4C, and she followed their example by learning to play the piano. Her favorite song to play was Unchained Melody.

Along with playing the piano, she enjoyed reading, gardening, and crocheting. Anytime there was a spare moment, Jean could be found reading. Her favorite genres were mystery and romance. She also had a prolific love of animals and had many throughout the years. She was fond of saying that stray animals could see a sign above her head that read, "Sucker." She spent a lot of time listening to music and watching tv and movies. Some of her favorite music included The Carpenters, The Bee Gees, Barry Manilow, Shania Twain, and Maroon 5. She loved watching professional basketball, ice skating, NCIS, Wheel of Fortune, Gone with the Wind, Star Wars, and old school musicals.

Before moving to Russellville, she resided in Fancy Farm, KY for many years. She also previously resided in East Point, GA and Murray, KY.

Jean was of the Church of Christ faith, and a graduate of Murray State University. She volunteered for Foster Care Review Board for many years and assisted the Lowes Volunteer Fire Department. She retired from Overland Solutions in 2019.

Mrs. Clanton is survived by her loving and devoted husband of nearly 45 years, John F. Clanton. As her disease progressed, he was there with her every single day. She is also survived by her daughter, Rebecca Kitchens (Nick); her honorary child, Shannon Perkins; step-son, Chris Clanton (Abigail); a brother, Joe Forsee (Carmen); granddaughter, Harper Noelle Kitchens; step-granddaughter, Stephanie Murray Clanton (Shane); three step-great-grandchildren; special extended family member, Denica McCurdy (Ray); and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Creekwood Nursing & Rehab.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home with a graveside service following at Fairview Cemetery at 1:00 pm.
