James Elliott Thomas, 80, of Bowling Green passed away Thursday, December 18, 2025 at Magnolia Village.

The Bowling Green native was a son of the late John H. Thomas, Sr. and Ruby Dodson Thomas. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Jo Cross and Nancy Thomas; a brother, John H. Thomas, Jr.; three aunts, Elizabeth Thomas, Rena Thomas and Louise Richards; one uncle, Jeff Thomas.

Mr. Thomas was a graduate of Alvaton High School, Class of 1963 and worked for WRECC for 40 years. He was a Vietnam Army Veteran and a member of Greenwood Baptist Church.

Survivors include his brother, William F. Thomas; several nieces and nephews; several great nieces and great nephews; and several great-great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Sunday, December 21, 2025 at Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home with burial to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Sunday at the funeral home.
