James Minor Stewart, 100, of Bowling Green died Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at Hospice House.

He was the son of the late George W. Stewart and Florence May Coombs Stewart. He was preceded in death by his brothers, George, Woodrow, and Mark Stewart; and his sisters, Louise Stewart Hardin and Thelma Stewart.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ruth Roach Stewart; his children, James "Buster" Stewart (Jan), Sarah Richey (Bill) and Penney Baseheart (Mark), all of Bowling Green; Grandchildren, Holly Miller (Jason), Nicholas Stewart (Brittany), Molly Druen (Eric), Haley Baseheart, Allison Baseheart, Angela Sharp (Scotty) and J.B. Bridgeman (Becky); ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He opened the Lost River Cave Night Club in 1937 and was a World War II veteran and a German prisoner of war. He was a dairy farmer, electrician and home builder. He was one of the original founders of Stewart-Richey Construction Company. He was a member of Broadway United Methodist Church, Past President and Secretary of the Wesley Fellowship Class, Past President of the Warren County Farm Bureau, Past President of the Broadway United Methodist Men and Past President of the Warren County Utopia Club.

Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am Saturday at Broadway United Methodist Church with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm Friday at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home and again from 10:00 am – 11:00 am Saturday at the church.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern Kentucky, Broadway United Methodist Church or Lost River Cave.
