Ina Mae Catron Stringfield, age 102, of Bowling Green, died peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on November 11, 2016. Ina was born in Monticello, KY to the late Thomas C. Catron and Alice Vie Davis Catron. She was first loved by her large family with five brothers, William, Charles, Clarence, Robert, and Earl, and five sisters, Caroline, Myrtie Gott, Pearl Davenport, Margarette, and Opal.
After graduating from Richardsville High School, Ina Mae married the love of her life, the late Raymond E. Stringfield. The two of them cherished their family as it grew to include three children, Maxwell Ray Stringfield (Joyce), Alice Jewell Stringfield Perkins (John), and Joy Gail Stringfield Lewis; eight grandchildren, Cynthia Stringfield, Deborah Stringfield, Jamie Spugnardi (Nick), Scott Jones, Tracy Tharp (Cale), Jeffrey Mahoney (Miguel), LeCarole Speer (Brian), and Jimmy Lewis; eight great-grandchildren, Chris Key (Mindy), Allison Bemiss (Daniel), Allie Shewmaker (Adam), Chase Watson, Hailey Speer, Andrew Speer, Isaac Speer, and Ian Speer; and four great-great-grandchildren, Caroline Key, Elijah Bemiss, Caleb Key, and Jonah Bemiss. She celebrated the individual strengths of each child, threading her values of both hard work and laughter with loads of fun into the fabric of their daily routines.
Ina Mae was a member of Riverside Christian Church an avid reader, exceptional quilter, adventurous traveler, one of the best cooks around and known for her beautiful flowers and green thumb. Whether you were family or a neighbor, she welcomed you with a smile and often a square of lemon cheesecake, a slice of warm chocolate pie or freshly baked peanut butter cookies. Ina Mae Stringfield spent just over a century here on earth, giving her the opportunity to help shape many lives along the way. Her kindhearted nature, warm laughter, and fiery spirit serve as an inspiration to all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, sisters and her son, Maxwell Stringfield.
Funeral Service for Mrs. Stringfield will be at 11:00 am, Monday, November 14, 2016 at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm – 7:00 pm Sunday, November 13, 2016 at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home and from 9:00 am to service time on Monday at the funeral home.
