Captain Fred Dailey Faulkner, USA, (Ret), 89, of Bowling Green, died September 25, 2026 at Christian Health Care. He was born in Humbolt, Tennessee, the son of the late Dr. Roscoe Faulkner and Elizabeth Faulkner. He was the step-son of the late Gladys Baird Faulkner. Captain Faulkner was preceded in death by one brother, Baird Faulkner.

Fred spent 4 years in the Air Force where he was trained at Yale University in both Mandarin and Chinese languages. Prior to his service in the Air Force, Fred served as 2nd Lieutenant in the Army. He served in Vietnam in the Army and was promoted to the rank of Captain before his retirement. He was an active member of Versailles United Methodist Church and Faith Methodist Church where he volunteered to help in many different activities. He was retired computer programmer for the Commonwealth of Kentucky and was a member of the Bluegrass War Games Group.

Captain Faulkner is survived by his wife Martha Faulkner; two daughters, Joy (Phil) Gerk of Mechanicsville, VA and Elaine (Brent) Mason of Bowling Green, KY; six grandchildren, Andrew (Emily) Mason of Madison, AL, David (Lauren) Mason of Louisville, KY, Kate (Jay) Buser of Bowling Green, KY, Kelly Gerk of Mechanicsville, VA, Molly Grace Gerk of Champagne, IL and Lydia Gerk of Wood Dale, IL and one great-grandson, Nolan Mason. He is survived by one brother, John Faulkner and two sisters, Kay Story and Beverly Wallace.

Services are scheduled for 12:00 pm Friday, October 2, 2026 at Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10:00 am -12:00 pm Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at 10:00 am at Fair View Cemetery in Leitchfield, KY. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern Kentucky or St. Gianna Crisis Pregnancy Home of Bowling Green.
