McDonough, Elvira Solla, "Ellie", 96, went home to be with the Lord on May 8, 2016. She was the daughter born to Ralph and Minnie Solla of New Jersey. Ellie was very proud of her Italian heritage, her family and all the friends she met and kept along the way. She was a wonderful wife; mother, grandmother and friend, and she will be deeply missed by all who loved her.


Elvira was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 40 years, Charles E. McDonough and her brothers Frank and Edward Solla. She is survived by her sister-in-law Jacqueline (McDonough) Casto and her husband Harry; her 3 children, Melissa Montgomery and her husband Michael of Bowling Green, Russell McDonough and his wife Ramona of Atlanta, Martin McDonough and his wife Barbara of Tampa; 8 grandchildren as well as 8 great-grandchildren and numerous cousins.


There will be viewing followed by prayer service on Thursday, May 12, 2016 beginning at 5:00pm at the Johnson – Vaughn - Phelps Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, May 13, 2016 at 12:00 Noon at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Bowling Green, Kentucky. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Saint Joseph's Cemetery following the Mass.


In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the St. Vincent de Paul or St. Jude Hospital for Children.
