Elsie Marie Pardue Hopper, 90 of Bowling Green, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Christian Health Care. She was born January 30, 1928 to the late Albert Pardue and Lillian Forbes Pardue Martin in Warren County.
Elsie married J.C. Hopper on July 17, 1944 and enjoyed 71 years of marriage until his death in 2015.
Elsie was a charter member of St. James United Methodist Church where she was involved in many activities, including teaching Sunday School. She was also an active member of the United Methodist Women. She worked for Union Underwear until she became a stay at home mother to raise her three children.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister Dorothy Pardue Simmons and step-father, Melvin Martin.
Survivors include her three sons, Russell Hopper (Susan), David Hopper (Natalie), Todd Hopper (Katie); four grandchildren, Kimberly Fedderly (Kyle), Warren Hopper (Kimberly), Kristi Mers (Shane), Corene Hopper; three great grandchildren, Zach Mers, Shelby Mers, Chloe Hopper; step-grandchildren, Georgetta Proffitt (Chris), Angela Carroll (Jeff), David Litten, Daniel Litten and Connor Litten; step-great grandchildren, Lita and Ethan Litten, Alex, Ben and Eli Proffitt and McKenna Carroll; Survivors also include a niece, several nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 am Friday, February 2, 2018 at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Johnson-Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Lewis Chapel United Methodist Church in Hadley, KY.
