Elizabeth Reeves Ross, 93, of Bowling Green, Kentucky departed this life on Sunday morning, November 26th, 2023 in her apartment home at Village Manor.
The Warren County native was born July 6, 1930 and was the daughter of Lawrence Reeves and Blanche Hardcastle Reeves. After graduating from Bristow High School she attended Western Kentucky University where she majored in piano. Peabody College in Nashville welcomed her and her interests in teaching piano pedagogy. Elizabeth graduated first from Peabody and was later again a graduate of WKU receiving an MA. At age 25 Elizabeth married Charles Harvey Ross in October, 1955 and first lived in Louisville, KY. They had their only daughter in 1958 and moved back to Bowling Green in 1965 to be with Blanche after Lawrence passed away unexpectedly.
Elizabeth was a lifetime member of First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ. She was a dedicated choir member and a pianist in the church, often accompanying her husband as he led the singing. She remained an active member of the church following her husband's death. At age 93 she continued to serve the church as the pianist for weekly services at Village Manor, playing beautifully.
Elizabeth was a career piano teacher out of her home teaching as many as 50 piano students each week. She was the primary founder of the Piano Teacher's Association in Bowling Green. She has been a philanthropist to the First Christian Church's music program as well as to the Village Manor keyboard collection.
A great lover of books, travel, and painting, she was also a dedicated member of Garden Club and XX Literary Club. She was a self-disciplined health advocate enjoying the benefits of healthy eating and daily walking. Elizabeth was adored by her family and treasured for her intelligence, humor, honesty, and faith as well as for her inspiring independence throughout her long life.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents and, in 2011, by her husband of 55 years, Charles. Her survivors include her daughter, Celeste Ross (Dustin Edwards) and her granddaughter, Chelsea Elizabeth Ross Edwards (Jared Persellin).
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home with Burial in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm preceding the funeral service. Expressions of Sympathy are welcome in the form of contributions to the First Christian Church Music Program, 1106 State Street, Bowling Green, 42101.
