Edward "Ed" Ray Foster, 85, of Bowling Green died Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Hospice of Southern Kentucky. The Scottsville, KY native was a son of the late Garland Edward and Tilda Vernon Foster. He was preceded in death by his sister, Catherine Foster Petty (John); sister in law, Patricia Smith Metke (Edward) and sister in law Luella Smith Williams (Russell); father in law and mother in law, Harry Lee and Lois McCarthy Smith.

Mr. Foster was a Certified Public Accountant and partner at the firm of J. C. Holland & Co. He was a graduate of the Bowling Green Business University and was a member of Eastwood Baptist Church, where he was a faithful member of Ron Beck's Sunday School Class. He was a Korean Army veteran, a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and was a Board member and past President of the Kentucky State Board of Accountancy. His love of travel throughout his life merited him visiting 14 countries and all 50 states. He enjoyed reading and spending winters in Orange Beach, AL with his wife of 53 years, Nancy.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Smith Foster of Bowling Green; two daughters, Melinda Foster Walker and her husband, Mark Walker of Brentwood, TN and Sherrie Foster Whatton and her husband, James "Jim" Whatton of Franklin, TN; three grandchildren, Seth Ethan Walker of Brentwood, TN and Emma Carol Whatton and Foster Lee Whatton both of Franklin, TN. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral will be at 2:00 pm on Monday, January 23, 2017 at Eastwood Baptist Church with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home and again from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Monday at Eastwood Baptist Church.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Eastwood Baptist Church or Hospice of Southern Kentucky.
