Dorothy Ewing Reeves, Ed.D. passed away on August 18, 2017 in Panama City, Florida at 93 years of age.

She received her bachelor and master's degrees at Western Kentucky State College (now WKU) While at Western, she worked as the secretary to then-president Paul Garrett. After graduating, she taught at Alvaton High School while working on her master's degree. Then, following a break to raise her children, she returned to school at Peabody College (now a part of Vanderbilt University) where she received her doctorate in education. She returned to WKU as a professor in the Department of Education. While there, she authored a textbook on statistics. She continued to teach there until she retired in 1987.

She and her husband, Lester D. Reeves, moved to Panama City, Florida in 1997 where they lived until her death. They were married just shy of 73 years.

Education was important to both Dorothy and her husband. They endowed the Dorothy E. and Lester D. Reeves Scholarship Fund at WKU. This fund helps deserving WKU students get access to the sort of education both of them were blessed to receive.

Dot served as president of the Bowling Green Woman's Club, the Bowling Green Noon Lioness Club and was co-owner and vice-president of Reeves Food Centers and Jr. Food Stores. She was a long-time member of The Presbyterian Church.

She was an accomplished artist with copies of her work being reproduced on at least one magazine cover, and prints of some of her paintings being made available to family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Lester D. Reeves, her sons, Alan D. Reeves (Sheila) of Bowling Green, Brian Reeves (Allison) of Wellington, Florida and Robin L. Reeves of Bowling Green and by her daughter, Lynn D. Reeves of Bowling Green, as well as by fourteen grandchildren and twenty-one greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lacy Leroy Ewing and Nannie Maude (Spears) Ewing Robertson as well as by three sisters, Berenice Ewing Lindow, Nathalee Ewing Love and Catherine Ewing Robertson Halliburton.

Visitation will be at The Presbyterian Church from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Friday, September 1, 2017 and at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 2, 2017.

Join her family for a celebration of her life at 11:00 am on September 2, 2017 at The Presbyterian Church.
