Dorothy "Dot" Elizabeth Powell, 59, of Bowling Green passed away on Friday, September 9, 2016 at the Medical Center.

The Warren County native was born on June 18, 1957 to the late Henry Skaggs and Mamie Basham Miller. She was also preceded in death by her step-father, B.C. Miller; a brother, Jimmy Skaggs; and a sister, Patty Alvey. She was a member of Glendale Baptist Church.

Dorothy was a loving, kind-hearted, Christian woman who put all others before herself. An inspiration to everyone she met. A devoted, caring, wise wife, mother, and grandmother. Not only was she loved by everyone, she loved them in return.

She is survived by her husband, Curtis Powell; two sons, Tim Williams (Courtney) and Wayne Williams (Christi); two daughters, Jamie Cherry (Terry McCan) and Jenny Hewitt (Jason); a brother, James Skaggs; five sisters, Janie Bumpus, Carolyn Shirley, Nelda Dorman, Loretta Kitchens, Rosetta Guess; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several special nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Dorothy will be on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at 2 PM at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home with burial to follow at Plano Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 PM to 8 PM on Saturday, September 10, 2016 and again on Sunday from 9 AM to 2 PM at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home.
