Obituary

Doris Faye Bottorff, 81, Bowling Green passed away Monday, August 24, 2026 at Cardinal Landing Memory Care. The Bowling Green, KY native was a daughter of the late William Norris Oliver and Reba Jewell Williams Oliver. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, John Robert Bottorff; two sisters, Berna Dean Johnson and Olene Satterfield; three brothers, William A. Oliver, Archie Oliver, and Melvin Oliver.

Mrs. Bottorff spent most of her adult life in Louisville, KY and was a founding and long-time member of Harvest Baptist Church, and a current member of Southeast Christian Church. She was a woman of very strong faith who spent years volunteering for events, singing in the choir and working in the nursery. Doris was a graduate of Warren County High School and attended Western Kentucky University. She spent most of her career as a bookkeeper for Jefferson County Public Schools at Carter Elementary, Conway Middle and Lowe Elementary.

Affectionately known as “Dee Dee” to her grandchildren and their friends, Doris was a true woman of grace who seemed to always be wearing a smile. She loved going out to lunch with her grandkids, listening to Elvis’s gospel songs, and laughing often. She was never seen without perfect hair, impeccable makeup, and a matching outfit. To her only daughter, she was a loving role model of what a true lady should be.

She is survived by one daughter, Trina King; two grandchildren, Haley (John) Scully, Nathan King; one brother, Gerral Oliver; one brother-in-law, Larry Satterfield; and one sister-in-law, Jannetta Oliver.

Funeral services are scheduled for 12:00 pm, Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Lakeview Fellowship Church. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 12:00 on Saturday at the church, as well. Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to Cardinal Landing Memory Care.

Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
