Donald "Ski" Strenkowski, 82, passed away at his residence Friday, February 16, 2018. The New Kensington, Pennsylvania, native was born September 25, 1935, a son to the late Walter and Francis Zebroski Strenkowski of New Kensington, Pennsylvania. Mr. Strenkowski was preceded in death by his wife Ida Evelyn Dunn Strenkowski of Bowling Green, Kentucky; one brother, Robert Strenkowski of New Kensington, Pennsylvania; one sister, Rosemarie Hrabczuk of New Kensington, Pennsylvania.
He retired from the Army as a combat engineer and drill sergeant. Mr. Strenkowski served two tours in Vietnam and was awarded a Bronze Star, he later retired from UPS Freight with 32 years of service. He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and attended regularly until the death of his wife.
Mr. Strenkowski is survived by one daughter, Denise Isom (Tim) of Bowling Green, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Sarah McCord (Gregory) of Glasgow, Kentucky, Alecia Underwood (Kyle) of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, Donald Isom (Naomi) of Plantation Florida; three great grandchildren, Taina and Austin McCord of Glasgow, Kentucky and Zoey Isom of Plantation, Florida; one sister, Patricia Fulton of Nephi, Utah.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home with burial in Flat Lick Presbyterian Cemetery in Herndon, Kentucky. Visitation will be from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home with additional visitation from 9:30 am until time of service Wednesday.
