Obituary

Donald Martin Stambaugh, 74, of Scottsville passed away on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at TJ Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, KY. The Ashland, KY native was the son of the late Maudie Evelyn Bush Stambaugh and Tracy Martin Stambaugh. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, James Edward Stambaugh.

Mr. Stambaugh was a graduate of Buffalo High School and a member of Faith Assembly of God in Smith's Grove, KY. He worked as a master electrician, the United States Postal Service, and retired as the maintenance supervisor from the United States Supreme Court. He honorably served in the Army during the Vietnam conflict, earning three Good Conduct Medals, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm-Unit.

Donald was a musician and a member of The Shifty Kickers. He volunteered for the Rest Home Ministries and was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener, and canner.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Wheeler Stambaugh of Scottsville, KY; two sons, Robert E. Ballard (Tricia) of Helena, AR and Timothy Gordon Ballard (Melissa) of Maulden, MO; three daughters, Katrina Stambaugh Jernell (Brent) of Charleston, WV, Angela Rose of Huntington, WV, and Barbara Hartle of Kansas City, MO; one sister, Mary Stambaugh Hagley of Huntington, WV; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

No services are scheduled at this time. Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
