Donald Ray Sowell, 64, of Bowling Green, passed away on October 10, 2025, surrounded by his loving family at the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital after a brief illness. He was the son of the late Mary Frances Sowell and Eugene Madison Sowell, who survives.

He was a 1979 Graduate of Bowling Green High School and a 1985 graduate of Western Kentucky University. He was employed with Dollar General since 1998 and was the Director of Master Data Management. Don was a member of Christ Episcopal Church.

He loved his family beyond measure. He was a friend to all and his grandson, Camden, was his greatest joy. His laugh was infectious, and he will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Hollie Moore Sowell; two sons, Clay (Megan) and Matt (Camryn); his grandson, Camden; his brothers, Ron (Debra) and John (Lee Ann); and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 17 at Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home. There will be a private burial at Bowling Green Gardens. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Thursday, October 16 and again from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Friday, October 17 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to Hospice of Southern Kentucky and the Bowling Green Warren County Humane Society.
