David Evans Sims, 79, of Bowling Green passed away Sunday, August 2, 2026, at the Hospice House of Bowling Green. He was a native of Hope, Arkansas and was the son of the late Walter Sims and Ann Truemper Sims. He was preceded in death by a sister, Angela Sims; nephew, Walter Lee Sims; sister-in-law, Phyllis Sims and brother-in-law, Bill Vogler. He was a retired real estate broker and served in the Marine Corps as a Sargeant during the Vietnam War. David was awarded many medals for his contributions to his country, including a Purple Heart.

He is survived by his wife, Martine Vogler Sims; a daughter, Anne Sims Embry (David); three brothers, Walter Lee Sims, John Sims (Carolyn) and Steve Sims; two sisters, Nancy Collins (Michael) and Jan Lange (Andy); one grandchild, Madison Anne Shelton (Hunter); one great grandchild, Everleigh Anne Shelton; two brothers-in-law, George Vogler (Kelly) and Tommy Vogler (Tammy); one sister-in-law, Bunny Brinkley; thirteen nieces and nephews; and nineteen great nieces and great nephews.

Visitation will be on Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Hospice of Southern Kentucky.
