David "Dave" Hildreth, 87 of Bowling Green passed away Saturday, January 27th at Hospice of Southern Kentucky.

The Louisville native was the son of the late Paul and Virginia Owens Hildreth. He was preceded in death by his sister Bonnie Willard.

Dave was a graduate of duPont Manual High school and from Georgetown College. He received his Rank 1 from Peabody University. Dave was retired from the Kentucky Department of Education, after 41 years, where during his tenure he served as a teacher, coach, principal and Assistant Superintendent of Barren County Schools. Dave enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports and had a special interest in Civil War history. Dave was a member of First Baptist Church for 44 years where he served as Deacon. He loved his Victory/Baraca Sunday School Class. After his retirement he was a loyal worker at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home where he loved his new family there. He was a Navy Veteran serving his country from 1950- 1954 during the Korean war.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 60 years, Bonnie Hildreth; one son, David Hildreth (Kim) of Muncie, Indiana; one daughter, Hollie Cummings (Scott) of Bowling Green; four grandchildren, Clay Hildreth of Bloomington, Indiana, Leigh Royal and Brooke Hildreth both of Muncie, Indiana and Charlie Cummings of Bowling Green; three great grandchildren.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:00 am Wednesday, January 31, at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, January 30, and from 9:00 am to 11:00 am Wednesday at the funeral home.
