Obituary

David A. Faxon, Jr., 90, of Bowling Green, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Chandler Park Assisted Living. The Bowling Green native was born January 11, 1927 to David Allen Faxon, Sr. and Nina Tandy Faxon. He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Mary Ann Gibson Faxon; brothers, William B. Faxon and Tandy Faxon.

Dave was a member of the Bowling Green Lions Club where he held many offices and was inducted into their Hall of Fame. His other memberships included the Southern Kentucky Region Antique Automobile Club of America, the Landmark Association, The Downtown Business Associations, and The Presbyterian Church. He was a Korean War veteran serving in the U.S. Army.

He began working in his father's Western Auto Store as a youngster and eventually became owner, committing 55 years to this business in our community. In addition, he owned the Sunoco Service Station and the Yamaha Cycle Center.
D.A., as he was called by his friends, was a car enthusiast. He enjoyed working on cars as a teenager and young adult and could often be found at the Beech Bend Race Track on Friday nights. Sharing his love of old cars with friends in the Antique Automobile Association, provided much joy in his later years. He also enjoyed wood-working, tinkering around in his garage/shop, and organizing and maintaining the Lion's Club benches around town.

In 1949 he married the love of his life and partner, Mary Ann Gibson and they had three children, David Faxon, III, (Dana), Nina Faxon Pearson and Lynne F. Croxton, (Jim) all of Bowling Green; four grandchildren, Jennifer P. Budde, (Frank), D.J. Croxton, (Kate), Christian Croxton all of Bowling Green and Heather Faxon Brown, (Keenan), of Auburn; three great grandchildren, Will Budde, Paul Budde and Drew Croxton all of Bowling Green; two sisters-in-law, Loretta Faxon and June Faxon both of Bowling Green; two nephews, Duncan Faxon of Bowling Green and Russell Faxon of Bellbuckle, TN; three nieces, Leanne Faxon Martin of Bowling Green, Gail Gibson of Clarksdale, MS and Mary Alice Sabatini of Gulf Port, MS.
