The family of Carl Christian "Chris" Hardesty is deeply saddened to announce his passing on October 23, 2026. Born on August 21, 1960, in Louisville, KY.

Chris lived a full and remarkable life, touching hearts with his eccentric personality, humor, and sincere friendship. Chris always wanted Peace and Harmony and to “ROCK ON” in life, a beautiful reminder for all who knew him to always remember.

After working as a grocery broker with his father and brother, Chris built a long, impactful career in Bowling Green and surrounding areas, contributing deeply to the music industry and fellow musicians. He was a multi-talented drummer, singer, guitarist, mandolinist, and songwriter. Passionate about history, antiques, and nature, Chris was also a skilled flintknapper, knife maker, jewelry maker, and cook who loved dachshunds and he had a high fashion sense. Chris could “toot” (for lack of a better word) and clear out a room. He always made everyone chuckle. He was especially looking forward to watching his grandchild, Ezaray, follow in his footsteps as a drummer.

Chris will be lovingly remembered by his beautiful and absolute soulmate and forever love, Joan Pendley; children, Erik Hardesty (Eleanor), Summer Barnes (Justin), and Sylvia Young (Nathen); grandchildren, Anthony Barnes and Ezaray Young; siblings, John Brian (Kathy) Givens and Moira Givens; and parents, Delinda Givens, and Gerald and Annell Givens. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Hardesty.

The family will celebrate his life at a later date when everyone can be present. The family deeply appreciates the outpouring of condolences, and musical memorials will be announced in the coming months for all to attend.
