Carroll Roger Smith, 85, of Bowling Green passed away Saturday, January 6, 2018 at HCA Greenview Regional Hospital.
The Allen County native was a son of the late Greak Anderson Smith and Lorene Holland Smith. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Sandra Adams Smith.
Mr. Smith was a graduate of Allen County High School and attended Western Kentucky Vocational School. He was a member of Forest Park Baptist Church from 1963 to 2000 where he served as a Deacon, and is presently a member of Lifeway Community Church. He was a Korean War Army veteran holding the rank of Sargent and was a member of the Halfway Masonic Lodge, #852 F & AM. He worked as an Electronic Technician at Holley Carburetor for 40 years and was the owner of Rogers Radio TV Repair; He enjoyed UK and WKU sports as well as Bowling Green High School sporting events. His favorite pastime was being with his grandchildren and his family.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joann Boston Smith; one son, Roger Kruse Smith (Bonnie); three daughters, Molly Smith Spurgeon (Bill), Natalie Smith Clemmons (Kevin), and Valerie Smith Sharber (Matt); one brother, Dr. Bob Smith; two sisters, Wilma Foster and Phyllis Ward; one aunt, Glynn Holland England; ten grandchildren, Justin Smith, Savannah Smith Mercer (Seth), William Hunter Spurgeon (Paige), Alex Jane Clemmons Massey (T.J.), Evan A. Spurgeon, Kacy Clemmons, Madison Spurgeon, Hannah Ruth Clemmons, Connor Willis (Brittany) and Caroline Sharber; four great grandchildren, Ella Rae Mercer, Ivan Willis, Lilly Willis and Lyla Jane Massey; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 1:00 pm Monday, January 8, 2018 at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home with burial in Fairview Cemetery #1. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Sunday, January 7, 2018 and from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Monday at the funeral home.
