Carole A. Lastufka, 82, of Bowling Green, KY, returned to her heavenly father on Sunday, March 4, 2018. She was at home with her family by her side. In July of 1954, she took the train from her home town of Rice Lake, Wisconsin, to meet the love of her life, PFC Robert Lastufka, who was stationed at Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, CA. They married and were honored to spend the next 63 years together. Carole was an extraordinarily loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She worked several years at Graves Gilbert Clinic. Carole had a wonderful sense of humor, loved kitty cats, enjoyed reading and was a prolific quilter and knitter. She was a member of the BG Quilters Club, Extension Stitchers. Carole hand quilted extraordinary quilts for her family and dear friends.
Among those who preceded her in death are her parents, Grace and Oscar Nelson and brothers Don, Robert and Douglas. Surviving family members are her loving husband Robert, and their four children, Michael Lastufka (Diana) of Charlotte, NC; Mark Lastufka (Karen) of Sugar Hill, GA; Suzanne Morrison (Steve) of Bowling Green, KY; and Joan Morrison of Atlanta, GA. Grandchildren; Matthew Morrison (Melanie), Michelle Morrison, Katherine Barton (John). Great Grandchildren; Hadley, Madeline and Kela Morrison.
Carole was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Visitation will be held at Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at 10:00 am with visitation at 9:00 am until Funeral Mass. Carole will be laid to rest in St. Joseph's Catholic cemetery.
