Carol Ann Sweeney, 75, of Bowling Green, passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at Morgantown Care and Rehabilitation. The Simpson County native was the daughter of the late Ernest Cecil Hester and Viola Jenkins Hester Craft. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Albert Sweeney; a granddaughter, Victoria Ann Cole; and two brothers, Edgar Carlisle "Beaver" Hester and Donald Gene Hester.

Mrs. Sweeney loved spending time with her family, trips to the beach and racing cars. She ran a daycare in her home and worked to create a special place for her kids.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 27 at Johnson Vaughn Phelps Funeral Home with burial to follow at Felts Cemetery in Auburn, KY. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, June 26 and again from 9:30 am to 11:00 am on Saturday, June 27 at the funeral home.

Carol is survived by a daughter, Stacey Cole; two sons, Scott Sweeney (Shayla) and James Casey Sweeney (Donna); eight grandchildren, James Tyler Cole (Britney), Jessica Makenzie Cole (Wes), Ariana Burns, Kasey Sweeney, Victoria Makenzie Sweeney, Cameron Scott Sweeney, T.J. Taylor and Dylan Douglas; several great-grandchildren; one brother, William Ernest Hester and several nieces and nephews.
